Gokayama consists of Ainokura and Suganuma districts where old Gassho-style houses, which were built in the first half of19th to the early 20th century, are preserved as designated historic sites. The Gokayama Folklore Museum exhibits domestic utensils in the almost original Gassho-style house. The accommodation is also available at the Gassho-style private guest houses.
