Tojinbo Cliffs

A spectacular scenic spot featuring a 1km stretch of rough, rocky columnar jointed cliffs. Such large-scale columnar joints are rare worldwide and are therefore geographically valuable. Climb the tower to see this national scenic and natural monument from above or admire the natural formations from a sightseeing cruise. Enjoy meals and souvenir shopping at the various shops along Tojinbo Shopping Street.

Experience content Visitors can walk around and climb on these rocky cliffs, and take half-hour sightseeing boat rides in the morning and early afternoon. These rides offer a close-up view of natural rock formations with unique shapes, like Lion Rock and Candle Rock. On the other hand, Tojinbo Tower offers visitors a much higher vantage point, for bird’s-eye views of not only the Tojinbo Cliffs, but Oshima Island to the northwest, and Mt. Hakusan to the east.
