Kurokabe Square (Nagahama)

The former bank building with the modern appearance of black plaster and white window frames, which was build in 1900, is ‘Kurokabe No. 1 building; Kurokabe Glass Store. The pre and late modern architectures in Motohama Town, Nagahama City have been transformed into the glass museum, glass shops, restaurants and cafes, and now buildings up to ‘No. 29’ are open in Kurokabe Square. This area has been flourishing along the old road called ‘Kitaguni-kaido’ since the old days. A historical town atmosphere and stylish shops are becoming popular among visitors. Another attraction here includes various hands-on workshops, where such glass-related hands-on craft experiences as blowing glass, beadwork glass, stained glass and music box making are available.
