(1) Suzuka-zumi ink and Ise Katagami stencil Demonstrations
Craftsmen of Suzuka-zumi ink and Ise Katagami stencil demonstrate their ink making and stencil carving, to show you the meaning of “craftsmanship”.
(2) Ise Katagami stencil carving hands-on experience
Ise Katagami stencil, said to have over 1000 years of history, is used to dye kimono such as Edo Komon and Yuzen, and has been passed down to today as an art of craftsmen. In order to teach part of the “craftsmanship” of Katagami, participants can have a hands-on experience carving items such as bookmarks or shikishi boards.
