The Jigokudani Wild Monkey Park
Observe the ecology of wild monkeys in a harsh 850-meter-high altitude environment where snow covers the ground almost a third of the year. Famous for bathing in hot springs during the cold winters, snow monkeys are known and loved by people worldwide. At the Monkey Park, wild monkeys are attracted with offerings of food to where they can be easily observed. After getting off the bus, enjoy the winter snow on the 35-minute walk along a flat mountain path. (Snow boots or mountain shoes are recommended.)
