Ena Gorge

Enjoyable year round, the beautiful Ena Gorge is famed for its rich cherry blossoms in the spring, the lush greens of summer, the stunning fall leaves of autumn and for bird watching in the winter. Located in southern Gifu Prefecture along the historic Nakasendo highway linking Edo (Tokyo) and the ancient capital, Kyoto, the Ena Gorge lake was the result of a 1920’s hydro electric power station dam project. Popular with photographers, the calm lake often acts as a mirror, reflecting the brilliant colors and views of each season in the still waters. See fascinating natural rock formations and cliffs from a sight-seeing boat cruise, or enjoy the many walking trails through the stunning landscape.
