National Treasure Zuiryu-ji Temple, Koukouzan
Historical Zuiryu-ji Temple was built over a 20-year period by Maeda Toshitsune, the third lord of Kaga Domain (present-day southern Ishikawa Prefecture), to honor the memory of his father, Maeda Toshinaga, the second lord of the domain. The large outer Sanmon temple gate, main Butsuden Buddhist prayer hall, and Hatto lecture hall are designated National Treasures, while the main gate, Zen hall, great kitchen, corridor, and reception hall are designated National Important Cultural Properties. Zuiryu-ji Temple is highly regarded as an excellent example of early Edo period (1603-1868) Zen temple architecture.
