Recommended Theme and Activities
This is the railway museum opened in 2011 operated by JR Central. Under the concept of introducing the development of high-speed railway technology through rolling stock display, 39 real rolling stock cars are dynamically exhibited including steam locomotives, electric engines, electric railcars, Tokaido Shinkansen (super express train), and next-generation Superconducting Maglev trains. When you enter the museum, you will see three of rolling stock, the symbols of high-speed railway which marked a world speed record. In the big and spacious exhibition hall behind, other rolling stock cars are all exhibited and showcased. Driving simulators both for the Shinkansen train and the conventional train, the corner explaining the mechanism of Superconducting Maglev and Japan’s largest and detailed railway diorama are other highlights. With these exhibits, you will learn the mechanism of railways and the railway development history.
