“Tenryu green tea” is produced in mountain villages where morning mist from the Tenryu River rises. The tea has a good reputation that every mouthful tea radiates rich aroma and refreshing sweetness, and that you can fully enjoy its taste until the last drop. Tenryu region, located in mountains in Hamamatsu City, has been prospering with green tea cultivation since the Meiji Period (1868~1912). Even now, there are some 700 tea farming households and you can see green tea fields spreading throughout the region. Even now, hand-picking is a cherished tradition and during a harvesting season, farmers get up early and pick fresh new leaves only. As the tea is produced with elaborate care by putting affection into leaf by leaf, it is highly praised in tea contests. In the past, the brand received an award of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and an award of production site.
