Kimono dyed in Kaga Yuzen style uses 5 different traditional colors called “Kaga go-sai” or Kaga five colors as base colors, beautifully presenting picturesque designs, which are normally flowers and plants. Its design is like a sketch, having subdued calmness of samurai warriors. It does not use embroidery or gold or silver leaf patterns. Unique features to give an impact are expressed by color gradations or descriptions of worm-eaten leaves etc. Of course, such kimono is expensive, but a variety of small things, including a handkerchief, a furoshiki or a wrapping cloth, a wallet and a necktie, are available for your souvenirs. For your information, it is possible to try a kimono-wearing experience in “Kaga Yuzen Traditional Industry Center” located in the neighborhood of Kenrokuen or a famous Japanese garden. After the experience, you can get a postcard with your picture wearing kimono as a complimentary gift.
