Counted as one of the most beautiful pine wood, this is a scenic spot with 54,000 pine trees, stretched for 7 kilometers, on the eastern shore of the peninsula which extends into Suruga Bay. The good combination of green pine wood, lapping waves to the shore and the graceful figure of Mt. Fuji might remind you of a painting on a picture scroll.Nearby the avenue of pines, known as ‘the Approach for God’, there is an approximately 650-year old black pine. The pine tree is said to be the one on which the celestial robe of an angel was hung according to a legend. To the right of this old pine, there is a monument of Elene Giuglaris, who was a French ballet dancer enchanted by Noh drama featuring this fascinating legend and created the dance drama.
